After a much needed nap, I got gussied up and we headed to the wedding. There, I expected to be greeted by the bride, groom - and the all important pig.
Instead, the first thing that caught my eye was the breathtaking view from Stacy's Mom's backyard. Pictured above, it was an idyllic location overlooking the Cumberland River. Stacy looked every bit as breathtaking too, in her sleek, deco-inspired gown.
Once the I do's were done though, I was all about the hog.
But the porker was not to be had. Stacy's Mom had ixnayed the pig pickin' plan, much to Stacy's dismay - not to mention mine!
That said, her Mom's spread was in no way a disappointment. From the rental of a frozen Margarita machine...
...to the Baked Artichoke Dip, Crudite and Pulled Pork...
and the Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, Corn Bread and Sweet Tea...
...to the the traditional Wedding Cake...
...the menu was all Dixie graciousness and bounty. My fave though - the Groom's Cake. A dense, chocolatey Red Velvet number, covered in vanilla cream cheese frosting and topped with fresh berries, it was irresistable.
It wasn't a whole pig, but it most certainly would do.
Clearly though, some sort of barbecue field trip would be in order before I left Nashville the next evening. The Vamp's hog heaven dreams had to be fulfilled before returning to Yankee soil!
