No, I haven't been asleep this entire time - just incredibly busy with a wee trip to Florida to see family throw in for good measure. That said, I know you've been waiting patiently for descriptions of my dinners in The CIty of Light. However, let us not forget the lunches...
Glorious Croque Monsieur on bread from Paris' foremost bread bakery - Poilane. Fragrant and sweet French Onion Soup capped with melted Gruyere. Thick Vegetable Potage tasting of fresh carrots, beans and potatoes, showered with bits of bright green chives. Steak Tartare (not as good as mine, but delicious nonetheless) served alongside a small mound of greens, lightly dressed. Wine. Wine. More wine. And, to break the monotony, water.
These lunches were had at places not found in the Michelin Guide, like Cafe Castiglione and Le Grand Corona (the name made me think of a beach club in Mexico, but it was France through and through).
Each one of these restaurants was every bit as lovely as the hot spots where we dined in the evening. In fact, these lunchtime meals might have been some of the most deeply satisfying of the trip, as they served as hours of calm between our Parisian trials and tribulations.
Then again, dinners were memorable too...So were the nightcaps...
