Never been particularly fond of sake, but still can't wrap my mind around the combination of fine wine and sushi. However, it seems the folks at Minado would like to change my mind tomorrow night, with this invitation:
Join us at Minado for a unique wine tasting event where we pair Japanese food with 20 different wines from all over the world matched by our experts. You will learn to make superior choices in pairing Japanese classics with great wines instead of just either sake or beer. Our experts will be at the tables explaining the food and wine. Don't miss out this wonderful event where you will have the pleasure of mixing and mingling in a relaxed setting with your friends, and colleagues.

Really not convinced that the combo is a winner. In fact, their suggestion of pairing Philadelphia Roll with Sancerre and Spicy Tuna with Pinot Noir turns my stomach.
By all means, if any readers think I'm off the mark, shout out.
VV...While I'm not sure how the Pinot Noir is going to go with sushi (I certainly have my reservations)...I have had the nice pairing of sushi with Pinot Blanc. Admittedly, with a shellfish allergy and not being all that into sushi, I may not be the best person to speak to the pairing...but I thought it worked nicely.
I can't wait to hear what you think!

Actually, not going to be able to make the event tomorrow night. I've got tickets to the City Opera's performance of "Cinderella" starring Lypsinka and Eartha Kitt. But thanks for your wine/sushi insights.
