Wanted to share something "feel good" for the weekend. From the Holmen Courier (Don't ask how I find these obscure articles in small town newspapers...):
The American soldiers missed the chance to see the beaming faces of neighborhood Girl Scouts at their doors selling cookies, but they don't have to miss out on the treat.
In an effort to give American troops in Iraq a taste of home, the Girl Scouts of Riverland Council have launched Operation Girl Scout Cookies: Iraq...
...The cookie drive has been under way since last week and the response has been great so far, Rohrer said. The deadline for getting cookies to ship to Iraq is Dec. 15.
Cookies will be delivered to the Baghdad hospital where U.S. soldiers are being treated. Cookies will be given first to wounded soldiers, then to Iraqi children in the pediatric ward established by the U.S. Army.
If enough cookies are purchased, they also will be distributed to field units in and around the Iraqi capital and even to outlying posts, if supplies hold out.
The Girl Scouts also will ship cookie orders to specified troops anywhere in Iraq, as long as a military address can be provided.
And, so this begs the question: What's America's favorite all-time Girl Scout cookie? My vote is for Carmel Delites.
Thin mint - no contest.
I'm intrigued (and a little disgusted) by the Chocolate Thin Mint Pizza Supreme recipe listed on the Girl Scout cookies site you linked to: http://www.girlscoutcookiesabc.com/atc/recipes/thinmints.htm
Sounds like the nutritional equivalent to deep-frying Twinkies (though I'm sure it tastes better).
