As if the steep costs of Paul Mitchell mousse, tight leather skirts and Sally Hansen press-on nails weren't hard enough to swallow, a Jersey girl's right to a weekly round of cheap drinks is being declared illegal in the Garden State.
Yes, ridiculous as it might sound, ladies' night is now a big no-no in New Jersey bars. According to USA Today:
New Jersey's top civil rights official ruled this week that offering discounts on "ladies' nights" is unlawful because it discriminates against men...."We're shaking our heads in disbelief," Deborah Dowdell, president of the New Jersey Restaurant Association, said Thursday. "Discrimination is such a serious issue, and it should not ever be taken lightly. But this is not discrimination. Ladies' night doesn't fit into that category."
Notice how Deborah's hair doesn't move when she shakes her head in disbelief. You go girl!
But, in all seriousness, this type of "discrimination case" is a waste of the court's time, the tax payers' money and makes a mockery of our legal system. Don't tell me that there aren't more important issues for the New Jersey Division of Civil Rights to deal with than half-priced Cosmos for a bunch of gals on a Tuesday night!
This type of nonsense almost makes me proud to say that I'm from Long Island...Almost.
