Attended "Brooklyn Eats" the other night and rolled away completely stuffed.
Highlights:
Sushi from Brooklyn Blue Ribbon Sushi
Dessert selections from Five Front
Chive dumplings from Ocean Palace
Chocolate chip cookies and cheese from Tuller
Various cakes from Sweet Melissa's Patisserie
Various wine samplings from Michael-Towne
Blueberry ice cream from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory
Sad to say, the tastings from the majority of other represented Brooklyn restaurants and purveyors didn't make me want to expand my Kings County culinary horizons. Also, the crowds were terrible. In addition, there was absolutely no Williamsburg representation - and goodness knows that nabe has its fair share of hot dining establishments. And, the new Zagat-topping Grocery wasn't in the mix.
I think the bloom is off the "Brooklyn Eats" rose. Hopefully, the organizers will raise the bar at next year's event.
